How to Edit & Customize Your Rental Application

Use this article as a reference when tailoring your rental application to match your screening process.

Step 1: Open Rental Application Settings

Rental application settings are managed from the Settings section.

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Rental Settings

Step 2: Set Application Basics

Configure high-level application details.

  • Set an Application Deadline (for example, 7 days)
  • Add a Welcome Message that applicants will see before starting

Example welcome message:

“Welcome. Thank you for applying. Please complete your rental application and we’ll review it promptly. If you have any questions, we’re happy to help.”

Step 3: Preview the Application

You can preview your rental application at any time.

  • Click the Preview button in the top-right corner

This allows you to see exactly what applicants will experience.

Step 4: Customize Application Steps

Enable or disable sections based on your screening needs.

  • Turn off steps you don’t want, such as:
    • Pets
    • Vehicles
  • Save your changes as needed

Step 5: Configure Required Documents

Control which documents applicants must upload.

  • Go to the Documents section
  • Choose required documents
  • Mark documents as:
    • Required
    • Allow multiple uploads (if applicable)

Step 6: Add and Customize Screening Questions

Create custom questions to collect additional details.

  • Go to Standard Questions
  • Click Add Question
  • Example:
    • Question: “Do you have pets?”
    • Mark as Required
    • Add Multiple Choice answers
  • Enable Free Text Input if needed
  • Add follow-up questions (for example, “How many pets do you have?”)
  • Click Save

Step 7: Review and Save Changes

After making updates:

  • Click Save
  • Preview the application again to confirm everything looks correct
